The Midwest Central Lady Raiders found great success the last 2 weekends in Tournament play. The Raiders took 2nd place at the annual Beardstown Tournament. Amelia Meeker and Maddie Sidwell earned a place on the All Tournament Team. Congrats Lady Raiders!!
The Lady Raiders swept Mt. Pulaski Thursday night. JV battled for 3 sets (14,25) (25,21) (19,17). Varsity won in 2 (25,18) (25,19). Emma had 1 kill, 15 assists, 2 aces, and 6 digs. Eliza had 1 kill, 2 assists, and 1 dig. Maddie had 6 kills, 2 assists, 1 ace, and 3 digs. Kayleigh had 4 kills. Addison had 1 dig. Baylie had 1 kill, 2 aces, 2 assists, and 5 kills. Amelia had 9 kills, 2 aces, and 1 dig. Joslyn had 3 digs. A great team effort from all players brought a big conference win on home court. Excellent job ladies!
Varsity travels to Beardstown for tournament play Saturday. The Raiders host Manual on Monday and Peoria Christian on Thursday for Volley for the Cure night.
Mrs. Harbourn and her STEP group had a great time doing art therapy this morning. They are six weeks into their positive mindset curriculum and they are exploring coping strategies while using a paintbrush.

History League visited the Historic New Salem village for their "Salem at Night" event on Friday! Even with the crowds, the club had lots of fun with the music, food, and candlelit history!
The Varsity Lady Raiders traveled to Rushville for tournament action on Saturday. The Lady Raiders finished in 6th place.
Kayleigh earned tournament honors to the All-Tournament Team.

Good day for the Golfing Raiders!
All three Raiders played well at the Quincy sectionals today. Collin Price finished 50th out of 111 golfers in his first sectional appearance. Dalton Johnson improved from last years sectional finishing in 31st place. Zach Highland finished in 8th place making him the 3rd Midwest Central state qualifier in 28 years. Congrats to all three! They represented our school well today.
A parent meeting with the winter sports coaches and Athletic Director will be October 23rd at 7:15 in the HS gym. If you have already attended a meeting this fall, you only need to attend the coaches meeting after the 7:15 AD meeting.

Dinner theater tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, October 9, at 7:00 AM in the Midwest Central High School lobby. Tickets are $30 each. Checks should be made payable to Midwest Central High School. The dinner will begin at 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, followed by "The Drowsy Chaperone" at 7:30 PM. Tickets for the dinner are available by advance sales only.

The High School Cross Country team competed at the Elmwood Invitational this morning. Senior Ayden Forbis was running in the top 25 at the half mile when his foot was spiked and he lost his shoe. Having to run the next 2.5 miles with only one shoe he still finished in 18:43. Sophomore Dakota Piro had a big personal best by over a minute in a half finishing in 21:36. Junior CJ Ballard still coming off some illness finished in 23:22. The Raiders will next race at the Pontiac/Prairie Central invite next Saturday in Pontiac.
Mrs. DeSutter's Chemistry students are playing cards today instead of doing Chemistry! Just kidding! Students are playing Salty Eight to learn how ionic compounds are form and named.

The Midwest Central National Honor Society chapter inducted 22 new members on Wednesday, September 25. The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in National Honor Society activities. Another great day to be a Raider! The Golfing Raiders had their IHSA Regionals in Jacksonville today. They performed well and finished 6th as a team. Collin Price, Dalton Johnson, and Zach Highland qualified for sectionals in Quincy on Monday. The Raider Nation is proud of you!

Varsity Raiders travel to Rushville on Saturday for a tournament. Next week the Lady Raiders host Hartem on Monday, Mt. Pulaski Thursday, and travel to the Beardstown Tournament Saturday.
