Last night the MCMS Scholastic Bowl season came to an end with the Regionals in Virginia. Six different people answered correctly in the team effort against Lewistown and Virginia. Mr. Bernhardt is happy with the growth from the beginning of the year in which students are answering questions more confidently. The top three scorers of the year were Cozy Marté with 15 toss ups answered, Leelinn Danner with 24, and Emily Pettijohn leading with 30 answered correctly. Now it’s time to enjoy the end of year party and match against the parents!

Last week, the MC Board of Education treated staff with a pick me up! The Lil Roasted mobile coffee trailer was on site at every building and staff members were able to grab a yummy drink!

At home against South Pekin, Midwest Central won the A match 115 to 75. Cozy and Emily both had 3 toss ups answered with Brooklyn having 2. The team is looking to carry this winning momentum to Regionals next week in Virginia where all the hard work will pay off.
The track team continued their winning ways at PORTA on Friday evening. Both the girl and boy individual runners, relays, and field event competitors did exceptional jobs. They look to continue to add to their winning ways tomorrow at Dee-Mack.
The 6th grade science class identified evidence from patterns in rock formations and fossils in rock layers. The rocks are part of the Martin Formation. They were deposited when central Illinois was a low coastline near the equator 290 million years ago.

The MCMS track team had the opportunity to show off their speed last night. Our sprinters, distance runners, and relay teams all did an awesome job! They look to improve and continue their winning ways on Friday at PORTA.
Our Raiders were able to get outside and enjoy beautiful weather and a VERY COOL experience yesterday! Solar Eclipse 2024 was a blast!
