There are millions of dollars of scholarships available for students that make an effort to do the research and complete the applications.  There are three main sources of college financial aid:  scholarships, colleges and the government.  The scholarship link below lists scholarships that the MCHS school counselor has applications for.
The government link will give you information about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and Illinois government financial aid.  Check with your colleges' financial aid office for information about their scholarships.  These can be found online.
Don't be mislead by the claim that billions of dollars in scholarship money goes unclaimed.  Many scholarships are for adults and high school students are not eligible.  Also, be wary of scholarship search services that charge a fee.  Virtually all scholarship and financial aid resources are free.  Check out the scholarship scam link so you know what to avoid.
It takes perseverance to get financial aid for college.  You must complete the applications if you expect any financial aid.
